CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team recorded their third-straight Gulf South Conference shutout victory in their 3-0 defeat of the Lady Buccaneers of Christian Brothers University on Friday afternoon.
 
TURNING POINT
- Clinging to a 1-0 lead, senior defender Caitlin Hayes doubled the Lady Choctaw lead to 2-0 in the 55^th minute of the match when she successfully headed in a ball delivered by sophomore midfielder Lauren Kate Carter on a free kick. The score gave MC the momentum it needed to cruise to the 3-0 win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws cracked the scoreboard in the 36^th minute, when sophomore forward Lauren Smith knocked in her second goal of the season. Freshman forward Holly Pascoe helped set up the score.
- After going up 2-0 on Hayes's second goal of the season, Peace Gill deliver the final blow for the Lady Choctaws. The junior midfielder netted her first goal of the season in the 75th minute, with help from Smith, to give way to the final 3-0 score.
 
KEY STATS
- Smith led all players with three points accumulated on the day, accounting for both a goal and an assist.
-MC outshout Christian Brothers 21-2 in the match. The Lady Choctaws took seven shots in the first half, and 14 in the second.
- Ten of the Lady Choctaws 21 shots came on frame.
- The Lady Choctaw backline put together another solid outing, pitching their seventh shutout of the year. The Lady Choctaws did not allow a single shot from the Lady Bucs in the second period.
- In goal, Andrea McDonald was a perfect 2-2 on save opportunities on the afternoon. The junior keeper improved her record to 5-1-1, while recording her GSC-best sixth shutout of the season.
- MC took four corners in the match, while not allowing any from Christian Brothers.
- The Lady Choctaws were tagged for eight fouls, while the Lady Bucs were responsible for five.
 
MATCH NOTES
- With the win, the Lady Choctaws improve to 7-1-1 on the season, and 6-1 in GSC play.
- The win marks for the Lady Choctaws third straight victory, matching their season-high.
- With their third straight shutout, the Lady Choctaws have not allowed a goal in their last 270 minutes of play.
