CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team notched their seventh-straight victory with their 1-0 defeat of Christian Brothers University in Gulf South Conference action on Friday afternoon.
TURNING POINT
- Senior winger
Jacob Farthing logged the eventual game-winning goal for the Choctaws in the 10
th minute of the match, when he took a pass from Senior midfielder
Bastian Busch and found the back of the net for his third goal of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After cracking the scoreboard early in the match, MC would go on to hold their lead the rest of the way for the 1-0 victory.
- The Bucs saw their best opportunity to score in the 63
rd minute, when Brendan Bennet took aim at a penalty shot after being taken down in the box. His shot, however, was denied by MC keeper
Humberto Pelaez to preserve the MC lead.
KEY STATS
- The Choctaws took 11 shots in the match, while the Buccaneers took 14. Five of MC's 11 shots were on goal.
- The Choctaws took six shots in the first half, and five in the second.
- In goal, Pelaez grabbed five saves for the Choctaws on the afternoon. The senior keeper improved his record to 8-0-1 on the year, while picking up his fourth shutout of the season.
- MC took five corner kicks in the match, while Christian Brothers took three.
- MC was whistled for eight fouls, while Christian Brothers was tagged for 12.
- Both teams were the recipients of a yellow card in the match.
MATCH NOTES
- The win for the Choctaws improves their record to 8-0-1 overall, and 7-0 in GSC play.
- The Choctaws current seven-match win streak ties for the second-longest in program history. The Choctaws need just two more wins to secure the longest winning streak in MC men's soccer history.
- With the win in goal, Pelaez picked up his 30
th career victory as a Choctaw, placing him tied with former Choctaw keeper Andrew Dailey for most wins in MC history in goal. Pelaez needs just one more win to become the winningest goalkeeper in program history.

- The Choctaws face a quick turnaround, as they will host Union University on Sunday, Oct. 1 in GSC action. Match time at Longabaugh Field is slated for 3:00 p.m.
