FIRST SERVES

•    Mississippi College looks to snap a two-game skid after falling 3-1 at Union on Tuesday evening. The Lady Choctaws claimed the opening set of the match 25-23, but dropped the final three sets (13-25, 22-25, 13-25).

•    Amanda Torres recorded a season-high with nine kills in the match. The San Juan, Puerto Rico, native surpassed her previous total of six set against Auburn Montgomery on Sept. 19. The junior also added 13 assists and was one kill shy of her fourth double-double of the season.

•    Kayana Mitchell led MC with 13 kills in the four sets. The Southaven, Miss., native finished one shy of her career mark of 14 kills at William Carey on Sept. 7. Mitchell also garnered five blocks – two off her season-high of seven against Grambling State and three short of matching a career-best.

•    Mitchell moved into a tie for second in career total blocks following her effort at Union. The Southaven, Miss., native has 261 rejections during her four-year career, which ties her with Nicole Horton, while Katie Rowland stands as the leader in blocks with 335.

•     Mitchell's 0.92 blocks per set ranks fourth in the GSC this season. The senior has 45 total blocks this season, which is also fourth in the league.

•    Ashton King sits three shy of moving to ninth in career kills with 492 alongside with Jennifer Braswell. The senior tallied three kills at Union.

•    Shorter comes into the weekend slate winning seven of its last eight, including a pair of five-set victories over GSC foes Union and Christian Brothers. SU is 2-1 in conference play with the lone loss coming in four sets at UAH.

•    Madeline Munroe and Tiffani Estep pace the Hawks offensively with 115 and 112 kills respectively. Estep also leads the Blue and White on the defensive side with 43 total blocks.

•    Lee enters the weekend riding a two-game win streak following a pair of 3-1 victories over Union and Auburn Montgomery. The Flames stand 2-2 in GSC action with the losses coming at North Alabama and Christian Brothers.

•    Silvia Sartori leads LU with 160 kills while Alex Reuter has recorded 21 blocks and MaKayla Beebe has 192 digs.

•    Following the weekend road trip, Mississippi College returns to the confines of A.E Wood Coliseum Oct. 6-7 as it hosts West Georgia and Montevallo. The match against Montevallo is the second annual Crohn's Awareness Match.
