FIRST SERVES
  • Mississippi College looks to snap a three-game skid entering the midweek contest against Loyola. The three setbacks have all come on the road at Illinois Springfield, Spring Hill and William Carey.
  • After two straight weeks away from Clinton, the Lady Choctaws open the home slate against Loyola. The home opener is the latest start since Sept. 9, 2014 against West Alabama.
  • Mississippi College seeks its first win in the series against the Wolfpack as the two teams meet for the first time since 2007 in Jackson, Miss. The Lady Choctaws and Loyola first met on Oct. 21, 1995 in New Orleans. The last affair between the two programs in Clinton was Oct. 28, 2006.
  • Shelby Grace Mays headlines the Lady Choctaws offensive attack. The Arab, Ala., junior has totaled 61 kills this season. Mays has tallied double-digit kills in four of the six matches this season led by back-to-back 13 kill performances against Concord and Lindenwood.
  • Kayana Mitchell and Krista Zieschang follow Mays with 40-plus kills each. Mitchell ranks second on the team with 49 kills while Zieschang has garnered 42 through six matches.
  • Sydney Chandler and Amanda Torres guide the offensive effort. Chandler has dished out a team-best 92 assists this season while Torres has recorded 83 assists.
  • Mays, Madison Kimes and Juilia Martin each have 40-plus digs this season. Mays leads the squad with 56 digs followed by Kimes' 49 and Martin's 46 on the campaign.
  • Mitchell and Mays each have double figure blocks this season. Mitchell paces the team with 15 total blocks, while Mays has tallied 13 total blocks, including a team-best four solo blocks.
  • Loyola enters the midweek contest with a 5-3 record this season. The Wolfpack claimed a straight sets win over St. Thomas-Houston on Sunday, Sept. 10. LUNO has won four of its last five outings with the only loss coming at Xavier (La.) in straight sets.
  • Loyola has a trio with 50-plus kills this season led by Allison Hartmann's 59 kills. Malea Howie sits just behind Hartmann with 58 kills while Tylar Beckham has 51 on the campaign. Sunni Blanchard has dished out 118 assists to lead the Wolfpack while Maddie Huekels has 102.
  • Kaitlynn Watson paces the squad with 75 digs while Hartmann adds 29 total blocks and Beckham supplied 22 blocks on the defensive side of the court.
