CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team opened up the 2017 season with a 1-0 shutout victory over Rollins College on Friday afternoon.
 
TURNING POINT

• Junior midfielder Samantha Carson found the back of the net in the 8^th minute, with the help of freshman forward Holly Pascoe and senior defender Caitlin Hayes off of an MC corner kick.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Carson's score accounted for the lone goal for either team in the game.
• The Tars saw several opportunities to crack the scoreboard in the contest, but the MC defense held steady to pitch the shutout.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

• Both Hayes and Pascoe recorded an assist in the match.
• The Lady Choctaws tallied three shots on the afternoon, with two shots on goal
• The MC defense allowed just five shots on the afternoon, with just one of them being on frame.
• The Lady Choctaws allowed just one shot the entire second half of play.
• In Goal, Gabby Kayser recorded her second career shutout for MC. The sophomore goalkeeper recorded one save, while improving her record to 1-0 on the year.
• The Lady Choctaws were tagged for just four fouls in the contest, while the Tars were charged with 16.
• The Tars earned the lone yellow card of the game.
• The Lady Choctaws took two corner kicks in the game, while the Tars took three.

 
UP NEXT

• The Lady Choctaws will take on #13 North Georgia on Sunday, Sept. 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
