NEW ORLEANS --- The Mississippi College Outdoor Track and Field team placed four members on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-South Region Team, as announced by the Association on Tuesday afternoon.

Andrea McDonald and
Anna Grace Govero represented the Lady Choctaws while
Luke Govero and Carl Rainey garnered all-region accolades for the Choctaws.

"We are extremely excited to have these student-athletes named all-region," said head coach
Butch Ard. "This is a big accomplishment for our program in our first year back in Division II. Having these four named all-region shows that the program is heading in the right direction. We are excited to add more student-athletes to this list as we move forward."

McDonald, a native of New Orleans, picked up two all-region honors. The sophomore picked up the honor in the high lump and the javelin. McDonald posted the best high jump performance in the Gulf South Conference this season with a leap of 5'7, which earned her a NCAA provisional mark. She added a toss of 127'6 in the javelin to claim her second all-region honor, the third best distance in the conference this season.

Govero, the Clinton, Miss., native, posted the second best distance in the women's high jump with jump of 5'6, also a NCAA provisional mark.

Both Govero and McDonald's marks are best in the South Region while McDonald's distance in the javelin in third in the region.

On the men's side, Govero claimed the GSC Decathlon title with 6,859 points as he bested the nearest competitor by nearly 400 points en route to claiming his first-ever, conference title in his freshman season. The NCAA provisional mark placed the Clinton, Miss., product in the top 15 in the nation.

Rainey earned all-region honors in the shot put. The Pascagoula, Miss., native posted the second best throw in the GSC with a toss 50'2.

Govero's point total in the Decathlon is tops in the region while Rainey's distance in the shot is third.
