CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team is set to join several schools across the country to participate in a national Breast Cancer Awareness event on Saturday, April 8th in support of Missy Frost, head softball coach at the University of Indianapolis.
In November of 2016, Frost was diagnosed with breast cancer. In February of 2017, just days before traveling to kick off the 2017 softball season, Frost began chemotherapy treatments.Â
Â
To show solidarity with Frost and the one out of eight women diagnosed each year with breast cancer, the Lady Choctaws and the University of North Alabama will wear pink-ribbon jerseys with the slogan, "Faith.Fight.Frost." during Saturday's doubleheader on April 8, at 2 p.m. at the MC Softball Complex.
Â
A total of 41 schools will be participating from 16 states and 14 different athletic conferences, including universities from both NCAA and NAIA Divisions I, II and III. Over 1,000 shirts and just under 350 headbands were sold.
The Lady Choctaws faced Coach Frost and the Greyhounds on February 11th in Montevallo, Ala. with nationally-ranked Indianapolis winning 6-2.
