MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team outlasted the #11 ranked team in the NAIA in the Rams of the University of Mobile 5-4 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, MC improves to 4-4 on the season.
In Double's action, the Choctaws were able to secure two of the three points up for grabs.
Marcos Rocca and
Joan Valy needed a tiebreaker second set to top Tim Buehler and Mark Simon in the doubles number 1 spot (9-8, 7-5).
Lucio Menezes and
Petar Damjanovic defeated Jonah Jakubec and Nick Van Amerom 9-7 in the doubles number two matchup.
In singles play,
Marcos Rocca grabbed his team-leading sixth victory over Mark Simons in the number three matchup in straight sets (6-3, 6-1).
Joan Valy (6-1, 6-1) and
Lucio Menezes (6-3, 6-1) both also won their matchups in straight sets.
The men's tennis team will return to action on Monday, March 13 when they take on Spring Hill College in a 2:00 p.m. nonconference tilt.
