LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- The Mississippi College softball team dropped both ends of a Gulf South Conference doubleheader to West Alabama on Saturday afternoon at the UWA Softball Complex.

GAME ONE: West Alabama 7, MC 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers (9-7, 4-1 GSC) jumped out to an early two-run lead with single runs in the first and third innings.
- The Lady Choctaws (8-8, 2-3 GSC) would respond with two runs in the fourth, starting with a squeeze bunt by sophomore
Alexia Harmon to score freshman
Shayla McKissock.
- Harmon would come home to score the game-tying run on a single by junior
Katherine Lee.
- West Alabama opened up a lead with a four-run fourth-inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Audrey Diekmann.
- Senior
Tylan Buckley looked to get MC back in the game as she hit a two-run home run in the fifth to cut the score to 6-4.
- The Tigers would add another run in the sixth and walk away with the 7-4 victory.
KEY STATS
- Buckley's first home run of the season was the 14th of her career, putting her 3rd all-time in MC history.
- Buckley was joined by Lee and freshman
Carly Crawford with two hits apiece.
- Sophomore
Penny Nichols (4-3) took the loss for MC, allowing eight hits and four earned runs.
- Diekmann led the Tigers with three hits and three runs scored, also driving in two runs.
- Andrea Edmonds (6-5) tossed a complete game for UWA, scattering 10 hits with six strikeouts over 7.0 innings.

GAME TWO: West Alabama 13, MC 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers got things going early with three runs in the first and four in the second, highlighted by two-run singles from Ashley Smart and Ashley Stassin.
- Senior
Megan Everett cut into the lead with an RBI single in the third inning, scoring senior
Lauren Mulligan, who led off the frame with a double.
- UWA pushed the lead out again with three runs in the third on a solo home run by Diekmann and a two-run shot by Stassin.
- The Lady Choctaws put up a fight with four runs in the fourth inning as Crawford, Mulligan and Lee each singled home runs.
- The Tigers put the game away in the fourth with a three-run home run by Stassin with two outs.
KEY STATS
- Mulligan and sophomore
Makenzie Nieto each had two hits for MC, while Mulligan scored two of MC's runs.
- Freshman
Marley Peagler (2-1) took the loss for the Lady Choctaws, giving up nine hits and nine earned runs over 2.1 innings.
- The top three hitters for UWA (Diekmann, Jenna Goldsmith and Stassin) combined to go 8-for-10 with 12 runs scored and eight RBI.
- Stassin (3-2) picked up the win for UWA, giving up nine hits and four earned runs over 5.0 innings.
