Women's Basketball Preview: West Georgia

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 23 as it travels to Carrollton, Ga., to face the University of West Georgia. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. central.

THE SERIES
Mississippi College looks for its third straight win over West Georgia in the series following a 73-58 victory over the Wolves earlier this season in Clinton. UWG holds the all-time advantage in the series at 9-4.

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE NOTES
The Lady Choctaws seek their first season sweep of West Georgia in program history.

Mississippi College fell 73-57 against Union on Senior Day. Olivia Mabry and Kelley Allen each totaled 15 points in the game. The setback forced MC into a three-way for seventh in the GSC standings alongside Christian Brothers and Delta State for the final two spots in the GSC Championships.

MC grabbed 49 rebounds in the last outing with West Georgia. The board total tied a season-high set at Shorter on Dec. 17.

Kelley Allen remains atop the GSC in steals. The Natchez, Miss., native averages 2.7 steals per contest and has totaled 65 on the season. Along with leading the GSC in steals, the junior ranks in the top 15 in the conference in scoring, rebounds, field goal percentage, free throw percentage and blocks.

WEST GEORGIA NOTES
West Georgia had a four-game win streak snapped on Saturday, Feb. 18 as it fell 60-44 at Lee University. Prior to the loss against the Flames, Lee had claimed wins over North Alabama, UAH, West Alabama and Shorter. UWG sits tied for fourth in the GSC standings with UNA.

De'Ashia Jones paces the Wolves as the junior averages 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. The Newark, NJ ranks ninth in the conference in scoring and fourth on the glass.

Aysha Harris ranks third in the league in steals with 2.6 per outing. Harris has totaled 63 in 24 games.
