PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped a doubleheader at nationally-ranked West Florida on Saturday, Feb. 18. The Choctaws fell 7-3 in the opener and dropped a 6-2 decision in the night cap.

KEY STATS
- Casey Echols logged the only multiple hit effort of the outing going 2-for-4.
- Jake Fraze took the loss on the hill as he threw 4.0 innings with six runs allowed on 10 hits. The junior fanned three and walked a pair in the start.
- Samuel Harrison tossed 4.0 innings in relief. The sophomore allowed just one run on one hit.
- Five Argos recorded multi-hit performances led by Robert Lopez going 3-for-5 with a RBI and two runs scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After trailing 2-0 through three innings, Chance Whitten tied the contest with a two-run, home run to right field. The homer was the second of the season for the Batesville, Miss., native.
- West Florida responded in the bottom of the frame with four runs, highlighted by a three-run, double from Ladeavon Matthews.
- MC gained a run back in the top half of the fifth to clip the lead in half, but UWF answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the inning to keep the four-run advantage.

KEY STATS
- Five Choctaws reach recorded a hit in the contest as Will Elliott collected the only RBI for the Navy and Gold.
- Tommy Taborda received the loss on the bump with 5.0 innings of action as he allowed six runs – two earned – on seven hits. The sophomore struck out five and walked three in the start.
- Blaine Crim and Hunter Mullis each saw action on the mound in relief.
- Tanner May and Brandon Harmon each tallied two hits to lead the Argos.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the second time in the day, MC garnered its first runs of the game in the top of the fourth after trailing 1-0 early. Will Elliott drove in Whitten with a single through the right side. A failed pickoff attempt allowed Echols to score and give the Choctaws a 2-1 lead.
- UWF responded with a pair of its own in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead 4-2 and added two more runs in the sixth to clinch the series.
