CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team just missed out on an upset win, falling to #10 Christian Brothers, 79-76, on Saturday afternoon in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
The Choctaws fell to 3-3 and 1-1 in Gulf South Conference play, while the Bucs improved to 7-0 and 2-0 in league action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws and Bucs played a tight first 10 minutes with the game tied at 19-19 with 10:14 remaining in the first half.
- MC would score the next 11 points, holding CBU scoreless over the next five minutes to grab a 30-19 advantage with 5:34 to go.
- The Choctaws would continue to extend the lead and when senior
Antonio Johnson hit a pair of foul shots with 2:47 remaining, MC had their largest lead of the night at 37-21.
- The Bucs would cut into the lead and a three-pointer by Jeff Larkin in the final minute made the score 39-31 at halftime.
- In the second half, the Choctaws would continue to hold the lead against the nationally-ranked Bucs, and when Johnson hit a three-pointer with 12:40 remaining, MC held a 57-44 advantage.
- From that point, the Bucs flexed their muscles and went on a 21-3 run to grab a 65-60 lead with 6:52 remaining, their largest lead of the night.
- The Choctaws would not go away, however, and junior
Donovan Ham, who scored a career-high 20 points, converted a three-point play to tie the score at 66-66 with 5:10 to go.
- The game would go back-and-forth over the final minutes and Johnson split a pair of free throws to tie the score at 74-74 with :56 remaining.
- Leading by one, Larkin made two free throws for CBU with three seconds remaining and the score was 79-76.

Xavion Dillon with a full-court pass and Dillon found Johnson for an open look at a three-pointer that just missed as time expired.

- The Choctaws shot 50% (27-of-54) from the field and outrebounded the Bucs 36-29.
- MC also went 17-of-22 (77%) from the free throw line and scored 28 points in the paint on the night.
- Ham and Johnson each scored 20 points to lead the Choctaws, combining to go 14-of-22 from the field and 8-of-10 from the foul line.
- Mack tallied his second straight double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, scoring all of his points in the second half.
- Johnson also had a team-high five assists, while junior
Davy Fisher posted a team-best three steals.
- The Bucs shot 52% (15-of-29) from the floor in the second half and went 7-of-11 from the three-point line in the final 20 minutes.
- Larkin scored a game-high 25 points and had a team-best seven assists.
- Adam Dieball scored 18 points with six assists, while Luke Rudy scored 16 points off the bench with a team-best six rebounds.

- The Choctaws are now 5-8 all-time against CBU, with the Bucs winning the last seven meetings and all seven since MC moved back to Division II and the GSC.
- The Choctaws led for 30:06 in the contest and the game was tied for 3:10.
- MC scored on 67% of their 66 possessions.
