MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team fought hard, but fell 1-0 to the Lady Flames of Lee University in the championship match of the 2017 Gulf South Conference Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Flames notched the lone goal of the match in the 21
st minute, when Summer Lanter capitalized off of a misplayed ball for the score.
- The Lady Choctaws would go on to see several scoring opportunities later in the match, but could find the back of the net.
- MC saw arguably their best scoring look in the 80
th minute, when a header from
Caitlin Hayes from inside the box clanked off of the left post.
KEY STATS
- The Lady Choctaws took seven shots in the match, with two on goal. MC took three shots in the first half, and four in the second.
- In goal,
Andrea McDonald (11-3-1) allowed just her eighth goal of the year in the loss. The MC keeper collected a pair of saves on the night.
- The Lady Choctaws took six corner kicks in the match, while holding the Lady Flames to just two.
- MC was tagged for five fouls in the match, while Lee was whistled for seven.
MATCH NOTES
- The loss drops MC's 2017 record to 15-3-1 on the season, while also ending the Lady Choctaws season-high six-match win streak.
