Volleyball Preview: at West Alabama

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team returns to Gulf South Conference action on Saturday, Nov. 4 as it travels to Livingston, Ala., to face the University of West Alabama. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.

NOTES
Mississippi College looks to snap a seven-match slide as it enters the match this weekend. The Lady Choctaws last win came on Oct. 14 in a five-set victory over Nova Southeastern University at the South Region Volleyball Crossover.
 
MC looks to avenge a straight set loss to the Tigers on Saturday, Sept. 23 in Clinton. UWA leads the series 14-4 against the Navy and Gold.
 
Krista Zieschang and Kayana Mitchell lead the Lady Choctaws offensively. Mitchell paces the squad with 179 kills while Zieschang is second on the team with 175 kills. Ashton King ranks third on the team with 137 kills.
 
Amanda Torres and Sydney Chandler have combined for 880 assists. Chandler leads the team with 491 assists while Torres has dished out 389 assists.
 
Jill Brown defends the defensive back line with 263 digs while a trio of Lady Choctaws are inching towards 200-plus digs this season. Chandler has 198 while Madison Kimes is third on the team with 196. Julia Martin rounds out the trio with 194.
 
West Alabama enters the weekend with a 16-12 mark and 8-4 in the GSC despite having dropped its last two matches against North Alabama and Montevallo.
 
Briana Sandifer leads the Tigers' offensively with 377 kills on the season while Kassie Till has directed the offensive efforts with 852 assists this season. Alex Fuelling paces UWA with 309 digs on the campaign while Jamie Lancellot and Taylor Donato has provided an impressive defensive front with 75 and 74 total blocks respectively.

Following the action on Saturday, Mississippi College returns to action as it closes out the home slate on Thursday, Nov. 9 against Union University. Match time at A.E. Wood Coliseum is slated for 6 p.m.
