CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team used a three-goal second half to capture a 3-2 victory over the Warhawks of Auburn University at Montgomery on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Choctaws improve to 12-2-1 overall, and 11-2 in Gulf South Conference play.
 
TURNING POINT
- Sophomore Katie Taylor notched the game-winner for MC in the 88^th minute, when she took a pass from sophomore Lauren Kate Carter and found the back of the net for her third score of the season. The goal provided for the final 3-2 score.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks got on the board first in the match, when Ruby Mendez set up Stine Svaerke for the first goal of the match in the 11^th minute.
- MC would go on to tie the match on their first possession of the second period, when Samantha Carson set up Holly Pascoe for her second goal of the season in the 46^th minute.
- The Warhawks would respond with a goal just six minutes later, when Mendez took advantage of a misplayed MC header on an attempt to clear out that found her foot; giving AUM the 2-1 lead.
- The Lady Choctaws would deliver another equalizer in the 59^th minute, when Caitlin Hayes played a long ball to Pascoe out on the left wing, who serviced a ball that Carson was able to successfully head in for her third goal of the year. The goal set the stage for Taylor's 88^th minute game winner.
- MC saw two goals negated in the match, as a header from Hannah Bailey in the 9^th minute was cancelled out by a foul call, and a Pascoe strike to the back of the net in the 61^st minute was negated by an offside whistle.
 
 
KEY STATS
- Carson and Pascoe led the way offensively for MC, both tallying a goal and an assist in the contest.
- The Choctaws outshot the Warhawks 24-9 in the match, with nine shots on frame. MC took seven shots in the first half, and 17 in the second.
- MC took five corner kicks in the match, while holding AUM to zero on the day.
- In Goal, Gabby Kayser improved her 2017 record to 4-0, while grabbing a season-high four saves in the match.
- MC was tagged for four fouls in the match, while AUM was on the receiving end of seven.

MATCH NOTES
- The 3-2 win marks for the first time this season that the Lady Choctaws allowed more than one goal at home.
- The wins marks for MC's third-straight victory, and seventh in their last eight matches.
- Prior to the match, seniors Bailey and Hayes were recognized as a part of Senior Day Festivities.
 
UP NEXT
- The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 26 when they wrap up regular-season play against Delta State in Clinton. Match time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
