Livingston, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team knocked off the Tigers of the Univeristy of West Alabama 1-0 on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Choctaws improve to 6-2-1 on the year, and 3-0-1 in Gulf South Conference play.

"Any time you can go on the road and beat a quality opponent like that is always good for your program," Head Coach
Darryl Longabaugh said. "This was a hard-fought win for our ladies, and I hope we can build on it and continue to get better."

Caitlin Hayes provided the lone goal of the afternoon for either team, as she was able to find the back of the net on a header in the 82
nd minute.
Lauren Kate Carter picked up the assist, which puts her at a team-high four for the season.

Katie Taylor took a team-high three shots for MC in the contest, with a team-best two shots on goal.
Emma Claire Furman and
Lauren Smith both took two shots in the game, with Furman posting two shots on frame and Smith accounting for one. Hayes, Carter,
Samantha Carson, and
Meghan Mauzy all put up shots on goal for the Lady Choctaws.
Liza Wise and
Sydney Oliver also contributed for shots taken.

In Goal,
Andrea McDonald recorded her second shutout of the season, going a perfect three for three on save opportunities. The sophomore goalie improved her overall record to 5-2-1.

The Lady Choctaws outshot the Tigers 13-6 in the match. MC tallied nine shots on goal, to UWA's three. MC took three shots in the first half, and 10 in the second.

MC took eight corner kicks in the contest, to UWA's one. The Lady Choctaws were tagged for 11 fouls, to the Tigers eight. West Alabama committed four offside infractions, to MC's one. Each team was handed out a yellow card in the match.

The Lady Choctaws return to action on Sunday, when they travel to Huntsville, Ala. to take on the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers. Match time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Â
