MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team defeated the Buccaneers of Christian Brothers University 3-1 on Sunday. With the win, the Lady Choctaws move to 5-2-1 overall, and grab their second Gulf South Conference victory of the season; improving their GSC record to 2-0-1

Three different Lady Choctaws contributed to the scoring on offense.
Katie Taylor,
Kyra Montes and
Hannah Bailey all were responsible for goals for MC.

In the assist stat column,
Meghan Mauzy and
Lauren Smith both helped set up scores for the Lady Choctaws. Mauzy's assist brought her season total to two, good enough for second on the team.

MC outshout CBU 16 to 8 in the match. The Lady Choctaws put up eight shots on goal, to the Buccaneer's four. MC took 10 shots in the first half, and accounted for six shots in half number two.

In Goal,
Andrea McDonald grabbed three saves on four opportunities. The sophomore netminder improved her record to 4-2-1 on the year.

Taylor sparked the Lady Choctaw attack in the first half, when she found the back of the net unassisted in the eight minute. The score marked Taylor's first goal as a Lady Choctaw. A stalemate from both offenses took the 1-0 score all the way to half time.

It was Montes who got the Lady Choctaws on the board early in the second half, when she took a pass from Smith and knocked in her second goal of the season to make it 2-0 MC. Bailey expanded the MC lead to 3-0 in the 71
st minute, when she fired in her second goal of the season. Mauzy helped set up the score. Anna Della Rosa scored the lone goal for the Buccaneers, when Ellen Garner helped her find the back of the net in the 86
th minute.

Montes took a team-high three shots on the afternoon, with two on frame.
Emma Claire Furman,
Madison Leonard, Smith and Bailey all finished with two shots taken, and one on frame.
Caitlin Hayes took two shots, and
Lauren Kate Carter and Taylor both finished with a shot on goal.
Samantha Carson also took a shot in the match.

MC took corner five kicks in the contest, to CBU's one. Both teams were tagged for only one offside infraction during the contest. The Lady Choctaws were tagged for a yellow card in the 50
th minute.
The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Friday, when they travel to Livingston, Ala. to take on The University of West Alabama in a GSC matchup. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m.
