MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team opened their spring break trip with a 5-4 win at the University of Mobile on Saturday afternoon.
The Choctaws (6-4), who were playing their first of four matches in four days, trailed the Rams 2-1 following doubles action.
Sophomore
Lucio Menezes and freshman
Maximilian Nilges won the #2 point by a score of 8-6.
MC needed four singles wins to clinch the victory, and they picked up four straight-set victories, led by Menezes (#2) and sophomore
Petar Damjanovic (#4), who dropped just five total games.
Sophomore
Jose Rodrigo Gonzalez won the #5 point (6-2, 6-4) to give them four total points, setting up sophomore
Marcos Rocca (#1) to clinch the victory with a 6-4, 6-1 win.
Despite a loss, freshman
Phillip Qu went three sets with Mark Simons at #6 (4-6, 6-4, 10-2).
The Choctaws will be back in action on Sunday when they face Marion Military Institute at 2:00 p.m. in Mobile.
