CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team completed its series sweep with a 12-2 win over Tougaloo College on Sunday afternoon in eight innings. The Choctaws improved to 3-0 on the year while TC falls to 0-3.
MC logged its run total on 11 hits and capitalized on five Bulldog errors to capture the 10-run victory. Four Choctaws posted multiple hit efforts in the contest as
Logan Ferrell,
Hunter Hall,
Toler Robinson and
J.C. Heflin each tallied two hits each. Robinson also added a multi-RBI contest with a pair of runs driven in for the second of his career.
Jake Fraze (1-0) logged his third career victory on the mound. The sophomore pitched 7.0 innings allowing the lone Bulldog runs on four hits. The Plano, Texas, native struck out five in the win and walked a pair.
Tommy Taborda logged the final inning of action with one hit allowed.
Leading 3-2 through four innings, MC posted a four-run, fifth inning to open the lead on the Red and Blue. Ferrell, Hall and William Elliott each recorded RBI in the frame. Robinson closed out the scoring crossing the dish on a wild pitch.
The Choctaws added four additional runs in the seventh to further extend the lead. Heflin,
Garrett Odom and Bolin each tallied RBI while Elliott scored on a wild pitch.
Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, Feb. 12 as it faces North Greenville University at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Ala. First pitch of the contest is set for 3 p.m.
