CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team lost at Sunday match to Florida Southern College, 7-2, at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Choctaws (4-4) dropped three tightly contested doubles matches, including the #2 point going to a tiebreak as sophomore
Lucio Menezes and freshman
Maximilian Nilges lost 9-8 (7-4).
Sophomores
Marcos Rocca and
Petar Damjanovic dropped the #1 point (9-7), while sophomore
Sanders Barrick and freshman
Phillip Qu lost at #3 (8-6).
In singles action, Rocca needed just two sets to take down Fabian Lundberg at #1 (6-4, 7-6 (7-5)), while sophomore
Jose Rodrigo Gonzalez won the #4 point over Miguel Alvarez-Hevia (6-4, 6-3).
The Mocs (3-2) finished off the match with wins in the other four singles matches, all in straight sets.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Wednesday when they host West Alabama for their second Gulf South Conference match of the season at 2:00 p.m.
