Women's Basketball Preview: Christian Brothers

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 31 as it hosts Christian Brothers University in Gulf South Conference action. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

THE SERIES

Mississippi College looks to snap a three-game skid against Christian Brothers on Saturday. MC claimed the initial meeting in the series, 56-45, at CBU on Dec. 13, 2014. The Lady Bucs have claimed the past three outings, including a 67-62 win in Memphis last season on Jan. 28.
 
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE NOTES
Mississippi College looks to return to the win column after falling in its last two GSC contests at Lee University and Shorter University. MC opened GSC play with an 82-77 win over in-state rival Delta State on Dec 1.
 
MC has a trio of players averaging double figures in the scoring column this season. Junior Kelley Allen leads the team with 13.5 points per game. The Puckett, Miss., native also ranks second on the team in rebounds with 7.7 per contest.
 
Ashley Minor sits second on the team in scoring with as she's averaged 11.5 points while Toni Woods rounds out the group with 10.8 points per outing. The Lafayette, La., product is just shy of averaging a double-double this season with a team-best 9.2 boards per game.
 
MC looks to improve upon its home record this season. The Lady Choctaws are 3-1 on Mike Jones Court inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. The Navy and Gold's only setback on its home court came against Lane College on Nov. 19 - a 69-66 setback.
 
CHRISTIAN BROTHERS NOTES
Christian Brothers is 4-4 on the season and riding a two-game, losing streak after falling Valdosta State and West Florida prior to the Christmas holiday break. CBU is 0-2 on the road this season.
 
CBU is led by Samantha Reeves' 14.5 points per game this season. Courtney Banks and Madison Luckett join Reeves in double-digit scoring with 10.9 and 10.5 points per contest respectively. Banks paces the Lady Bucs on the glass with 4.9 rebounds per game.
