CLINTON, Miss. --- On a day that the Mississippi College volleyball team hosted a Crohn's Disease Awareness Match, the Lady Choctaws were edged 3-1 in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 8 against Lee University at A.E. Wood Coliseum. MC moves to 8-10 overall and 1-9 in conference play while the Flames improve to 7-8 and 4-6 in the league.

The Navy and Gold logged eight aces in the match – which tied for second most this season.

Sydney Chandler each had two in the contest.
Jenna Campbell paced the Lady Choctaws with 11 kills – one shy of tying her season-high. It marks the ninth time this season the League City, Texas, native has led the squad and her seventh in double figures this season.
Bailee Berringer dished out a team and season-best 24 assists – her 11th match the MC leader.
Madison Kimes totaled 20 digs to help lead the defensive effort while
Kayana Mitchell had four blocks along with three from
Jamila Biglow and two from
Ashton King. The seven total blocks marks the second most in league play this year for MC and the fourth most this season.
After falling in the first two sets 25-22 and 25-23, the Lady Choctaws extended the match to four sets with a 25-20 win. MC broke a 14-all deadlock with a 7-4 scoring spurt to grab a 22-18 lead before closing the match out with an 11-6 run.
MC trailed as much as 7-3 in the final set, but rallied back on several occasions to force deadlocks down the stretch with the last coming at 20-all. Lee followed with four straight points. The Lady Choctaws fought off match point with three consecutive points, but a Crystal Dedes' kill – one of her team-leading 11 - concluded the match at 25-23.
Silvia Sartori added 10 kills to join Dedes in double-digits while Sadie Johnson totaled 25 assists just ahead of Kristi Farley's 22. MaKayla Beebe had 23 digs while Sartori added 15 along with two blocks each from Brooke Wilsman and Catherine Conley.
Mississippi College returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 as it travels to Valdosta, Ga., to start the second half of conference play against Valdosta State. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m. central.
