Volleyball Preview: West Florida

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 25 as it hosts Gulf South Conference foe West Florida. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Mississippi College looks for its first win in the series against West Florida on Tuesday. MC is 0-5 all-time against the Argos. A win would snap a season-long, eight game skid this season.

With three solo blocks against Union on Saturday, Kayana Mitchell reached the top 10 in career solos with 38. The feat moved her into eighth in the career block solo category. The Southaven, Miss., now ranks in the top 10 in all-block categories.

Madison Kimes, who moved into the top 10 in all-time digs earlier this season, stands two digs away from reaching the top 10 in single-season digs. The St. Louis, Mo., native has 300 digs this season.

Jenna Campbell is narrowing in on the 200 kill club this season as the League City, Texas, native has 198 this season. Campbell tied a season-high with 14 kills against Union on Saturday in a four-set setback.

Ashton King garnered her 100th kill on the campaign on Saturday. The Collierville, Tenn., product totaled six kills to become the fifth Lady Choctaw with 100-plus kills this season.

The setter duo of Bailee Berringer and Sydney Chandler continue to pilot the Navy and Gold's offense. Berringer leads the team with 375 followed by Chandler with 331. The pair both rank among the career assists leaders.

West Florida is riding a four-game win streak heading into the Tuesday match. The Argos stand 18-6 overall and 11-1 in GSC play. UWF improved its record with two wins on Saturday with a pair of sweeps over West Alabama and Spring Hill College.

Corisha Smith and Kathryn Torre each have 200-plus kills each this season. Smith has a team-best 224 kills while Torre has 216. Monique StCyr has dished out 856 assists to lead the Argos. Tori Martella and Torre lead the defensive effort. Martella has compiled 430 digs as Torre has totaled 74 blocks.

Following the Tuesday tilt, Mississippi College returns to action this weekend as it travels to West Georgia and West Alabama.
