Cleveland, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team fell to the Flames of Lee University 3-1 on Friday. With the loss, the Lady Choctaws record now sits at 9-4-1 on the year and 6-2-1 in Gulf South Conference play.

The Lady Choctaws outshot the flames 10-9 in the contest, with four shots on goal. MC took three shots in the first half and seven shots in the second.

Emma Claire Furman notched the lone goal for MC on the night. The freshman forward found the back of the net for her third goal of the season in the 20
th minute, when
Kyra Montes delivered a cross into the box that helped set up the score. The Lady Choctaw defense would go on to hold the Flames scoreless for the duration of the first half, as MC took the 1-0 lead into the break.

The Flames accounted for all three of their scores in the second half. Mia Hollingsworth evened things up when she booted in a goal in the 55
th minute. In the 67
th minute, Kinsey Cichowitz scored a goal with the help of Summer Lanter on an assist. Lauren Peters scored the final goal for Lee. She was assisted by McKenzie Bricker.

Furman led the way offensively for MC with her goal scored and two shots on goal.
Samantha Carson and
Lauren Kate Carter both matched Furman's shot total, with two apiece.
Jordan Dillon and
Katie Taylor each accounted for a shot on goal, while
Sara Hodges and Laruen Smith both chipped in for a shot taken in the contest.

In goal,
Andrea McDonald converted four saves on the night. The sophomore netminder saw her overall record drop to 8-4-1 with the loss.

MC took three corner kicks in the contest, while holding Lee to zero. The Flames committed five offside infractions, while the Lady Choctaws committed none. MC was tagged for 16 fouls, while Lee was whistled for nine.

The Lady Choctaws face a quick turnaround, as they will travel to Rome, Ga. to take on the Hawks of Shorter University on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 p.m. CST.
