Volleyball Preview: Union

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 22, as the Lady Choctaws host Gulf South Conference foe Union University. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
Mississippi College looks for its first in the series with Union as the Bulldogs hold an all-time advantage 5-0. A win over the Bulldogs would snap a seven-game skid this season.
 
Sydney Chandler recorded her team-best, fourth double-double of the season with 15 assists and 13 digs in a setback to Christian Brothers on Thursday evening.
 
With a block assist on Thursday evening, Kayana Mitchell has moved to within two block assists of moving into the top three in career block assists.
 
Jamila Biglow is five solo blocks away from moving into the top 10 in single-season solo blocks. The Colorado Springs, Colo., has 17 on the campaign.
 
Jenna Campbell leads MC with 184 kills this season. The League City, Texas, native is one of four Lady Choctaws with 100-plus kills as Shelby Grace Mays has 111 followed by Kayana Mitchell, who ranks 10th in career kills with 449, with 110. Biglow has totaled 103.
 
The setter duo of Chandler and Bailee Berringer has contributed 675 of the team's 814 assists this season. Each rank in the top 10 in career assists. Berringer leads MC this season 352 while Chandler has 323.
 
Madison Kimes, Biglow and Mitchell guide the defensive effort for the Navy and Gold. Kimes, who ranks eighth in career digs with 632, leads the team with 285 this season. The St. Louis, Mo., native's season total ranks eighth in the conference as well as her 3.90 digs per set.
 
Mitchell and Biglow each have 58 total blocks on the campaign. Mitchell has 192 total rejections in her career, which is fifth, while Biglow is 10th with 120 blocks.
 
Union is 7-15 on the campaign and 4-7 in GSC action. UU is riding a four-game losing streak, including a 3-1 loss at Lee University on Tuesday. Katie O'Malley leads a quartet of Bulldogs with 159 kills on the season. Suheily Colon-Rodriguez and Deja Moorer each have 127 followed by Ceciley Blanchard's 118. Hannah Huguley has 605 assists. Audrey Cagle has totaled 256 digs while McKenna Carter has a team-best 44 blocks.
 
Mississippi College closes out the three-game, homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at it faces the University of West Florida. Match time is slated for 5 p.m.
