Women's Basketball Preview: Christian Brothers

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team takes to the hardwood on Thursday, Jan. 28 as it travels to Memphis, Tenn., to face Christian Brothers University in Gulf South Conference. Tip is slated for 5 p.m. MC enters the contest 5-11 overall and 3-10 in the conference while CBU is 6-11 and 4-9 in the league.
 
MC VS. CHRISTIAN BROTHERS
Thursday marks just the fourth meeting in the series between Mississippi College and Christian Brothers. The Lady Bucs hold a 2-1 advantage following back-to-back wins in the series, including a 63-59 victory in Clinton earlier this season.
 
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LEADERS
Kristen Sampson leads a trio of Lady Choctaws in double figures with 14.3 points per game. The Jackson, Miss., native has scored in double digits 14 times this season. Chloe Roberts has also posted double figures in 14 contests as the Reagan. Tenn., product ranks second in scoring with 13.9 points per game. Carla Clemmons rounds out the trio averaging 12.4 points this season. The Rome, Ga., native also ranks second in rebounds with 6.3 per game. Toni Woods leads the team on the glass averaging 7.9 boards.
 
BREAKING DOWN CHRISTIAN BROTHERS
Christian Brothers enters the Thursday tilt riding a four-game losing streak after falling to Lee University last Saturday. The Lady Bucs are led by Samantha Reeves, who is averaging 14.1 points per game this season. Courtney Banks joins the Somerville, Tenn., native with 11.2 points per contest. Reeves ranks second on the team in rebounds with 5.7 per affair while Madison Luckett paces the squad averaging 6.3 per game.
 
CLEMMONS AMONG ALL-TIME, SINGLE SEASON BLOCKS LEADERS
With a pair of blocks against West Alabama, junior Carla Clemmons has tallied 29 rejections this season moving her into the top 10 among single season leaders in school history. She stands five blocks away from climbing into the top 5.
 
LONG RANGE DANGER
Kristen Sampson and Allie Hill have proven to be dangerous from behind the arc as the duo ranks in the top 10 in 3-point field percentage. Sampson is tied for fifth all-time with a 36.8 clip from behind the arc in just two seasons with MC. The Jackson, Miss., native is seventh in 3-point field goals made with 50 and is ninth in attempts with 136.
Hill is seventh in program history shooting 35.8 percent from the 3-point line. The Plainfield, Ill., product is four 3-pointers made away from cracking the top 10 as she currently has 39.
