CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 21 as it hosts the University of West Georgia to start the second half of the Gulf South Conference slate. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The SeriesMississippi College is 2-9 all-time against West Georgia following a 58-57 buzzer beater in Carrollton, Ga., earlier this season. The Lady Choctaws seek to snap a four-game skid and claims its third victory against the Wolves in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
Mississippi College LeadersKristen Sampson leads a trio of Lady Choctaws in double figures following her first career double-double at No. 25 Delta State last Saturday. The Jackson, Miss., native averages 14.9 points and has produced double digits in 13 games on the campaign, including the team-best 10 points at DSU. The senior also grabbed a team-best and career-high 10 rebounds against the Lady Statesmen.
Chloe Roberts ranks second on the team in scoring with 14.2 points per game. The Reagan, Tenn., sophomore has scored in double figures in 12 outings this season.
Carla Clemmons rounds out the trio with 12.5 points per contest. Clemmons, a Rome, Ga., product, has scored in double digits in nine games and ranks second in boards with 6.4 per contest.
Toni Woods paces the Navy and Gold on the glass this season. The Lafayette, La., native averages 7.8 rebounds per game this season, including four double-digit efforts. The junior has led the Lady Choctaws in rebounds in seven affairs this season.
Breaking Down West GeorgiaWest Georgia snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 65-60 win over West Alabama on Saturday. The Wolves enter Thursday's contest with a 3-14 record and 3-8 in the GSC. Katrina Littlepage paces UWG in scoring with 18.9 points per game. A'Kia Harris leads the Wolves on the glass with 6.9 boards per game.
