MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a pair of outings on Friday afternoon as the Lady Choctaws (0-4) fell in straight sets to Bellarmine University and Lindenwood University on the campus of Christian Brothers University.

Freshman
Shelby Grace Mays paced the offensive effort for the Blue and Gold with a total of eight kills, all coming in the setback to LU. The total marks a season-high for the Arab, Ala., native.
Ashton King added seven kills to finish second on the team for the afternoon. Freshman
Bailee Berringer dished out a combined 20 assists in the two contests as sophomore
Sydney Chandler supplied 16 assists.

Defensively, freshman
Pearson Bell gathered 15 digs, including a season-high 12 against LU. Sophomore
Madison Kimes and Mays with 11 digs each to finish tied for second on the team.

In both matches, the Lady Choctaws ran into strong offensive efforts. BU posted a .288 attack percentage for the three sets, including a .588 in the final set. The Lions hit .361 in the final match of the day led by a .652 in the second set.

Taylor Edwards,
Jamila Biglow and King guided the scoring effort for MC in the opener. Edwards recorded five kills while Biglow and King each tallied four kills for the outing.

Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, Sept. 11 as the squad travels to the Millsaps Invitational. Action begins at 1 p.m. against the host Lady Majors followed by a 5 p.m. contest against Philander Smith on the Millsaps campus.
