CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team used another second half spurt to improve to 5-0 with a 2-1 win over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Longabaugh Field.
The Lady Choctaws (5-0) have now outscored their opponents 16-1 in the second half after two goals in the final 45 minutes in the victory on Saturday.
It was the Lady Tigers (1-4) that grabbed an early lead as Haley Hatcher scored in the 16th minute, chipping the ball from just outside the box into the back of the net. Miranda Hudleston played the ball forward to give OBU the lead, which would remain going into halftime.
MC wasted no time equalizing the score in the 50th minute as junior
Sydney Oliver scored her third goal of the season, finding the back of the net from inside the 6-yard box on assists from senior
Meghan Dodge and junior
Madison Leonard.
In a game that saw MC take 24 shots and hold OBU to just seven, freshman
Gaylynn Cooper scored the game-winner in the 55th minute, cleaning up a giveaway by the Lady Tigers in the box for her third score of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Andrea McDonald made two saves in net for the Lady Choctaws, while the back line allowed just one shot in the second half.
MC will be right back at it on Sunday when they host Harding University at 2:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Field.
