CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College football team will return home to host Belhaven University for a non-conference matchup on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in Robinson-Hale Stadium.
This will be the 6th all-time meeting between the Choctaws (1-1) and the Blazers (0-2) with MC holding a 3-2 edge in the series.
MC is coming off a 34-17 loss at #13 North Alabama on Saturday, taking just a seven-point deficit into the fourth quarter. The Blazers welcomed Division III #1 Wisconsin-Whitewater to H.T. Newell Field, falling to the Warhawks, 62-6.
The Choctaws opened the season with a 61-6 win over Texas College on September 5th, scoring the most points in a game since a 61-14 win over McMurry in 2009.
MC's passing offense has already accounted for four touchdowns this season, one more than in all 10 games a year ago. Junior
Marcel Newson has caught 12 passes for 222 yards and four scores.
Sophomore quarterback
Kyle Smith leads the team in rushing (48.5 ypg) and passing (150.0 ypg). He has passed for four touchdowns with no interceptions and rushed for one score.

Reggie Bennett is the team's leading tackler with 18 stops, including 16 on Saturday against North Alabama. For his efforts, he was named the NCCAA Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week.
Freshmen linebackers
Mike Hall and
R.J. Arnold rank 2nd & 3rd on the team with 11 and 10 tackles, respectively.
The Blazers, led by "Air Raid" creator Hal Mumme, have been a pass-first offense this season. They have thrown for 693 yards with just 16 rushing yards. The defense is allowing 57.0 points per game this season.
