CLINTON, Miss. --- For the second straight game, the Mississippi College men's basketball team could not get their offense going, falling to Christian Brothers on Saturday night in A.E. Wood Coliseum, 64-53.
The Choctaws (2-4, 1-3 GSC) scored just 19 first half points and shot 33% from the floor in the defeat. MC would outrebound the Bucs (4-5, 3-1 GSC) by a count of 46-30, including 18 offensive boards in the contest.
Senior
Tory Rice led the Choctaws with 14 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. The Starkville native was just 4-of-9 from the foul line, while the Choctaws were just 12-of-21 as a team.
Sophomore
Stacey Mack scored nine points with 11 rebounds, pulling down five offensive boards. Senior
Johnny Rucker and junior
DeOndre Haynes each had eight points in the contest.
Drew Hildreth led the Bucs with 20 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots, while Jeff Larkin poured in 20 points with five steals.
CBU jumped out to a 30-19 lead and pushed the advantage out to a game-high 15 points with 17:35 to go, leading 40-25.
The Choctaws answered with an 11-0 run to cut the lead down to four, but the pushed the lead back out to 10 with under eight minutes to go.
MC would go on another run and when Rice made a layup with 4:03 remaining, the score was cut to 53-51.
The Bucs would score the next five points and hold MC to just two points the rest of the way.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Pensacola to face West Florida at 8:00 p.m.
