Shorthanded Lady Choctaws Fall at West Florida, 2-0

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team took just their second loss of the season with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Florida on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Choctaws (12-2-3, 7-2-2 GSC) were playing without two of their top three scorers as senior Sayit Mejia Bello and sophomore Caitlin Hayes missed the game due to red cards being issued against Spring Hill on Friday.

The Argos (11-4, 7-3 GSC) scored both of their goals in less than 90 seconds as Daryl Bell tallied her 9th and 10th goals of the season in the 22nd and 23rd minutes. Sara Helgadottir and Kaley Ward recorded assists on the scores.

Freshman goalkeeper Andrea McDonald made a career-high 10 saves in the match, while Emily Grammer pitched a shutout in net for UWF.

The Lady Choctaws will wrap up the regular season with "Senior Day" on Friday when they will host North Alabama at 1:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Field. MC has already qualified for the NCCAA MidEast Region Tournament, with the schedule to be released later.
