Argos Get Comeback Win Over Choctaws in Double Overtime, 2-1

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- On a rainy, soggy Sunday afternoon, the Mississippi College men's soccer team fell victim to a come-from-behind double-overtime victory against the University of West Florida, 2-1.

The Choctaws (4-10-1, 2-6-1 GSC) got the scoring going in the 37th minute when sophomore Benaiah Preston scored his first goal of the season, heading in a corner kick from junior Victor Marinho.

MC would take the lead into halftime and they would remain ahead until the final minutes of regulation, but Marteinn Urbancic tied the game for the Argos (9-5, 3-5 GSC) on an assist from Jorge Chirinos in the 84th minute.

The match would go into overtime, and after a scoreless first period, UWF scored the game-winner in the 107th minute when Felipe Oliveira found the back of the net for his third goal of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Humberto Pelaez stood tall in net for the Choctaws, making eight saves to keep MC in the contest. Andre Moreira made two saves for the Argos.

For the Choctaws, it was their 8th loss on the season decided by one goal.

The Choctaws will be back in action on Friday when they close out the season against Ouachita Baptist at 3:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Field. Ewahia Amhanesi, Josh Barrera, Dyllon Beasley, Perry Goldsbury and Daniel Lang will all play in their final contests for Mississippi College.
