Choctaws Wrap Up Season With 5-1 Win Over Ouachita Baptist

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team closed out the 2015 season with a 5-1 win over Ouachita Baptist on Friday afternoon at Longabaugh Field.

The Choctaws saw four seniors Ewahia Amhanesi, Josh Barrera, Perry Goldsbury, and Daniel Lang finish up their careers following the match.

The Choctaws (5-10-1, 2-6-1 GSC) posted three goals within the first five minutes of play. Junior Benaiah Preston (Houston, Texas) started the scoring rally as he recorded an unassisted goal in the second minute of play. Sophomore Hayden Cochran (Brandon, Miss.) then served the ball to junior Kendall Carballo (San Jose, Costa Rica) who scored his sixth goal of the season. Preston then scored again in the 5th minute off an assist by Carballo.

Amhanesi found the back of the net in the 12th minute to tally his third goal of the season bringing the score to 4-0.

The Tigers (5-10-1) answered within a minute when Tinashe Chigede had an unassisted goal.

The Choctaws then extended the lead in the 36th minute as junior Conor Corboy (Aptos, Calif.) recorded his fifth goal of the season to bring the final score to 5-1.

The Choctaws outshot Ouachita 14-8. Sophomore Humberto Pelaez (Panama City, Panama) made three saves in the match. The Tiger's goalies Ben O'Brien and Nelson Pacheco combined for three saves.

The Choctaws finished the season with an overall season record of 5-10-1 and finished 2-6-1 in the Gulf South Conference.
