CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team came from behind to defeat Lee University 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Longabaugh Field to snap a seven-game win streak.
Lee University (8-4-2, 7-2 GSC) actually got on the board first when Lauren Peters tallied an unassisted goal in the ninth minute of play.
The Lady Choctaws (10-1-3, 6-1-2 GSC) came right back in the 11th minute of play when MC was awarded a corner kick. Junior
Meghan Mauzy (Titusville, Fla.) served the ball into the center, finding sophomore
Caitlin Hayes (Warrington, England) who headed into the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season, bringing the score to 1-1 to enter the half.
A similar scenario occurred in the second half when senior
Sayit Mejia Bello (Bogota, Colombia) took a corner for MC, serving it to sophomore
Hannah Bailey (Brandon, Miss.) who headed it in for her first goal of the season in the 63rd minute of play.
Freshman
Andrea McDonald (New Orleans, La.) and the Lady Flames goalkeeper, Erin Olson made one save apiece.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Jackson to face Millsaps at 7:00 p.m.
