CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team fell to Lee University 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Longabaugh Field.
The Choctaws (3-9-1, 1-5-1 GSC) put up a fight against the Flames (10-2-2, 5-0-1) as they put up eight shots to the Flame's 10.
The Flames got on the board first when Jonathan Finlay sent a long ball to David Perez who hit the back of the net in the 28th minute of play. Lee was then awarded a penalty kick soon after in the 31st minute and Gabe Franco took the kick, extending the lead 2-0 to enter the half.Â
The Choctaws attempted to come back in the 53rd minute of play as senior
Ewahia Amhanesi (Mesquite, Texas) passed it off to junior
Conor Corboy (Aptos, Calif.) who found the back of the net, recording his fourth goal of the season. There were no more scores for the remainder of the match giving Lee the win 2-1.
Sophomore
Humberto Pelaez (Panama City, Panama) made two saves in the match. Lee's goalkeeper, Jake Huffaker made one save.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Mobile, Ala. to face Spring Hill at 3:30 p.m.
