MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team picked up their first road victory of the season with a 2-1 victory at Spring Hill on Friday afternoon.
The Choctaws (4-9-1, 2-5-1 GSC) have now gone 4-2-1 over their last seven games, outscoring their opponents by a total of 20-6.
Junior
Sergio Garcia got the scoring going for MC in the 27th minute with his first goal of the season on an assist from sophomore
Elliot Rimmer.
The Badgers (2-11, 0-7 GSC) would tie the game, however, in the 37th minute when Viktor Kvarnlof converted a penalty kick, and the teams would go into the intermission with the score tied, 1-1.
In the second half, the teams would remain scoreless until the Choctaws were awarded a foul in the box and for the third time this season, sophomore goalkeeper
Humberto Pelaez converted and gave MC the advantage.
The Choctaws outshot SHC 16-10 with nine shots coming on goal. Pelaez made two saves in net for MC, while Jacob Files tallied seven saves for the Badgers.
With the win, the Choctaws avenged an earlier loss to the Badgers as SHC picked up a non-conference win (1-0) in Clinton on September 20th.
MC will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Pensacola to face West Florida at 12:30 p.m. The men's game will be followed by the women's game at 3:00 p.m.
