CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win against Shorter University on Friday afternoon at Longabaugh Field.
The Lady Choctaws (9-1-3, 5-1-2 GSC) are now qualified for the National Christian College Athletic Association Mid East Region Tournament to be held in November.
The first half of the game remained scoreless as MC put up 10 shots to Shorter's (5-8, 2-6 GSC) three.
MC was awarded a corner kick in the 62nd minute of play. Junior
Meghan Mauzy (Titusville, Fla.) took the corner and managed to curve it into the net giving MC the win 1-0.
The MC defense drew six offsides against the Lady Hawks offense.
Freshman
Andrea McDonald posted her eighth shutout of the season making one save on the game. Shorter's goalkeeper Alden Powell made five saves throughout the match.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Sunday as they host Lee University at 1:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Field.
