CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team returns to the floor on Monday, Oct. 12 as the Lady Choctaws host Valdosta State. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the second half of the Gulf South Conference slate.
MC (2-16, 1-9 GSC) looks to snap a five-game skid and seek revenge from a 3-1 setback in the conference opener at the Blazers earlier this season.
Jenna Campbell and
Kayana Mitchell lead the Blue and Gold offensively. Campbell and Mitchell has each recorded 100-plus kills on the season. Campbell, a native of League City, Texas, has a team-best 113 kills while Mitchell, the product of Southaven, Miss., has tabbed in 103 on the campaign to a go along with her team-best 45 blocks.
Bailee Berringer and
Sydney Chandler has combined for nearly 500 assists. Berringer has a team-leading 276 with Chandler adding 216 assists. Chandler sits eighth all-time in assists with 676.
Defensively,
Madison Kimes leads a trio of Lady Choctaws with 100-plus digs. The Madison, Miss., native has totaled 168 on the season followed by
Pearson Bell with 162.
Shelby Grace Mays has added 156 on the campaign.
VSU enters the contest sporting a 13-2 record and 8-2 in the GSC. The Blazers, which snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 win at UAH over the weekend, are paced by Lea Jaklen's 168 kills. Defensively, Natalia Campos has 250 digs while Susanna Peonia has a team-best 58 blocks.
Following the Monday affair, Mississippi College returns to action in Carrollton, Ga., at the GSC-Sunshine State Volleyball Crossover.
