CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team looks to return to the win column as the Lady Choctaws host a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents this weekend. The slate starts on Friday, Oct. 2 against the University of Alabama-Huntsville at 7 p.m.
MC closes out the weekend's action on Saturday, Oct. 3 against the University of North Alabama at 2p.m.
The Blue and Gold dropped the first part of the season-long, homestand against the University of West Florida on Tuesday evening.
Mississippi College is being led by freshmen this season on the offensive end.
Jenna Campbell paces the squad with 92 kills on the campaign while
Shelby Grace Mays is third on the team in the category with 76. Freshman
Bailee Berringer has dished out a team-best 221 assists this season to setup the offense. Sophomore
Kayana Mitchell is second in kills (84) while sophomore
Sydney Chandler, who ranks ninth all-time in career assists with 636, is second in assists (176) this season.
UAH and UNA meet Thursday evening before the two squads head to Clinton for the weekend. The Chargers, who are 11-3 on the season and 2-3 in conference play, are led by Anna LeDuc with 147 kills. Kirsten Giles paces the squad with 482 assists. Defensively, Haley Hop has tallied 201 digs while Haley Snyder has registered 48 blocks.
The Lions are 12-2 on the season with an unblemished 6-0 record in the GSC. Natasha Fomina guides UNA on offense with 209 kills while Andrea De Leon has garnered 570 assists on the campaign. Ashtyn Kapovich and Victoria Quintanilla pilot the Purple and Gold on the defensive end. Kapovich has a team-leading 195 digs with Quintanilla recording 27 blocks.
Following the weekend slate, Mississippi College returns to action next weekend at Shorter University and Lee University.
