CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team opened the second half of Gulf South Conference play with a 73-38 loss to the University of West Georgia on Thursday night in The Coliseum.
The Lady Choctaws (8-8, 4-8 GSC) fell behind early and trailed the Wolves (12-6, 7-5 GSC) by a score of 32-14 at halftime. MC had their best shooting night in five years against Delta State in their last contest, but they were just 3-of-21 (14%) from the field against UWG in the first half. In the second half, the Wolves scored the first 12 points and finished off the Lady Choctaws.
Sophomore
Shaniqua Love led MC with six points off the bench, going 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Sophomore
Zaneta Kubicka had a team-high six rebounds, while junior
Kristen Sampson pulled down five.
The Wolves were led by Taylor Beverly with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Aysha Harris was also in double-figures with 11 points.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Livingston, Ala. to face West Alabama at 2:00 p.m.
