CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team will open their second round of Gulf South Conference play on Tuesday night as they travel to Livingston, Ala. to face the University of West Alabama at 7:00 p.m. UWA is providing live video and live stats for tonight's match.
The Lady Choctaws (4-13, 0-10 GSC) have now played all 10 GSC teams and will face each one again to close out the season. MC and the Lady Tigers (5-10, 4-6 GSC) met back on September 9th in Clinton with UWA taking the match in four sets. Freshmen
Taylor Edwards and
Ashton King led MC with seven kills apiece, while Yanesha Johnson had a match-high 11 kills for West Alabama.
Freshman
Krista Zieschang leads the Lady Choctaws on the season with 115 kills, while King has 81. The setter tandem of sophomore
Meredith Williams and
Sydney Chandler have posted 213 and 208 assists, respectively. Edwards has a team-high 22 service aces on the year, while senior
Holly Tupper has a team-high 222 digs. Freshman
Kayana Mitchell leads the team with 38 total blocks, including six solo stops.
Johnson leads UWA with 148 kills on the season, while Liz Woodard has 115. Callie Murphy and Sam Burgess have split time at setter this season with 295 and 204 assists, respectively. Lindsey Ball has a team-high 207 digs, while Elizabeth Culhane has a team-high 46 blocks.
This will be the 11th meeting between the two teams as UWA holds a 6-4 advantage.
