Volleyball Hosts Alabama Huntsville and West Georgia for Final Home Weekend

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team will play their final two home matches of the season this weekend when they host Alabama Huntsville and West Georgia at A.E. Wood Coliseum. MC will face UAH at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night and UWG at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Senior libero Holly Tupper will be honored on Saturday as they Lady Choctaws will celebrate "Senior Day." The Baton Rouge, La. native is MC's all-time leader with 1,769 caree digs and 836 service attempts. She will play in her 119th career match on Friday night, which will be a new school record. Tupper has played in every match of her four-year career and has recorded at least 400 digs in each of her first three seasons with the program. So far this year, she has tallied 340 digs with a career-high 24 service aces and 31 assists.

The Lady Choctaws (5-21, 0-16 GSC) are led offensively by freshman Krista Zieschang with 196 kills and 2.28 kills per set. Freshmen Ashton King and Kayana Mitchell have 139 and 132 kills, respectively, while Mitchell has a team-high 51 blocks on the year. Freshman Taylor Edwards leads the squad with 30 service aces to go along with 103 kills.

Freshman Sydney Chandler is the team leader with 394 assists, averaging 4.86 helpers per set. Sophomore Meredith Williams has tallied 270 assists, including a season-high 31 the last time MC played West Georgia.

The Chargers (14-10, 8-8 GSC) are still battling for a spot in the Gulf South Conference tournament over the last two weeks but they have lost three straight matches coming into Friday night's tilt. They are 7-3 on the road this season with the only losses away from home coming to the top three teams in the league (Shorter, West Florida and North Alabama).

Anna Claire Johnson leads the attack with 247 kills, while Olivia Bauman is just behind with 234. Ashton Baker has a team-high 557 assists with Kristen Giles posting 323. Haley Snyder has a team-high 67 blocks, while Kennedie Lacriscy leads the way with 331 digs.

The Wolves (5-20, 2-14 GSC) have struggled like MC as the season has progressed, dropping six straight matches and 12 of their last 13. UWG has yet to win a match away from home this season but they have been good in five-set matches, winning three-of-five.

Tiffany Ancrum leads the team with 187 kills, while Amanda Miles and Tiesha Alston have 143 and 136, respectively. Amanda Miller has a team-high 441 assists, while Kayla Hartman has 309 helpers. Casey Roethler paces the squad with 314 digs and Alston has a team-high 71 blocks.
