Clinton, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team fell to West Florida 2-1 on Friday afternoon at Longabaugh field.
The Lady Choctaws (9-7-1, 4-6-1 GSC) had a hard fought match against West Florida and nearly came back with three minutes left in the match but were unable to hold off the Lady Argonauts.
The Lady Argonauts (9-5, 7-3 GSC) got on the board first as April Syme found the back of the net with an assist by Hugrun Elvarsdottir in the 33rd minute of play. The Lady Choctaws entered the half down by one goal.
In the second half there were no scores until the 82nd minute of play. Senior
Kaitlyn Kiss (Lake Mary, Fla.) converted her fifth goal of the season off a penalty kick to tie the match 1-1. Nearly 30 seconds later, Hugrun Elvarsdottir passed it to Darryl Bell who found the back of the net for the Lady Argonauts. The Lady Choctaws were unable to score in the final three minutes of play, giving West Florida the win 2-1.
The Lady Choctaws will travel to Alabama to face North Alabama on Friday at 7:00 p.m. for their last regular season match.
