ROME, Ga. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team allowed four first-half goals and lost to Shorter University on Friday night, 5-1.

The Hawks (4-7-1, 3-2 GSC) got the scoring going early on as Matt Goss tallied a goal in the third minute on assists from Irvin Espinal and Charlie Dennis. The Choctaws (7-5, 2-4 GSC) answered back quickly as sophomore George Fradenburg scored his second goal of the season in the 10th minute.

With 31 minutes left in the first half, the lights went out on the field and the game was delayed about 15 minutes. When the lights came back on, Shorter poured in the goals as Nico Stutley (19'), Dennis (24') and Espinal (38') all scored first half goals to give the Hawks a 4-1 lead at intermission. Richard Conner added a goal in the 84th minute to give SU the 5-1 victory.
