CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College football team will celebrate "Homecoming" on Saturday when they host Valdosta State at Robinson-Hale Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with the pre-game show on WHJT Star 93.5 FM beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The Choctaws (1-4, 0-2 GSC) are coming off their first win of the season in a 56-14 victory over University of Faith last Saturday. The MC defense outscored the Glory Eagles by themselves, putting up 21 points on three touchdowns. Senior
Dylan Klibert led the way with two interceptions and a fumble recovery, returning two of the turnovers for scores. For his efforts, the LaPlace, La. native was named the NCCAA National Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week. Sophomore
Joseph Comeaux also returned a fumble for a touchdown for the Choctaws.

Chris Ingram had the first 100-yard rushing game of his career as he went for 100 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns, including a 33-yard scoring run to open the game. As a team, the Choctaws rushed for 276 yards as junior running back

The MC defense shut the Glory Eagles out in the first half, holding them to just 32 rushing yards and less than one yard per rush in the entire game. While Klibert led the team with seven tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, senior

Brannon Schaffer had a big game with 3.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. As a team, the Choctaws had 14.0 tackles for loss and two sacks.
This week's opponent for the Choctaws is the #23 Blazers (3-2, 1-2 GSC), who are coming off a 40-6 win over West Georgia last Saturday. The two losses VSU has suffered this season have come to top 10 teams in #9 Delta State and #4 North Alabama. In the loss to the nationally-ranked Lions, Valdosta had a lead until the final seconds when UNA hit a long field goal to pick up the win.
The offense is led by dual-threat quarterback Jake Medlock, who leads the team with 859 passing yards and five scores and is second on the team with 343 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He is the reigning GSC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying 376 total yards and four total touchdowns in the victory over the Wolves.
Austin Scott is the team's leading rusher with 379 yards and two scores, while Cedric O'Neal has four rushing touchdowns to tie Medlock for the lead. Chris Anderson is the team-leader with 25 catches for 339 yards and two scores.
Defensively, Justin Williams leads the team with 40 tackles and 6.0 tackles for loss, while also posting a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Bryson Brindle leads the team with 3.0 sacks, while Brindle and Davis each lead the team with two forced fumbles.
This will be the 15th meeting between the Choctaws and the Blazers, with the last coming in 1995. MC won eight of the first nine meetings between the teams, while VSU has won the last four games.
