CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team remained perfect at home as they defeated Union (Tenn.) 5-1 on Friday afternoon at Longabaugh Field.
It was a balanced effort by the Lady Choctaws (8-3-1, 3-2-1 GSC) offense, as five different players scored goals on the afternoon.Â
Sophomore,
Meghan Mauzy (Titusville, Fla.) passed a through ball to senior
Macey Lee (Pearl, Miss) who found the back of the net in the 11th minute of play for her seventh goal of the season. Lee has now tallied 57 career goals putting her just one goal behind Jennifer Benson's (2003-06) record of 58 finishes. Â
To extend the lead, Lee passed the ball across the goal to senior Nicole Mckissack (Madison, Miss) who shot it past the goalie for her first goal of the season. The Lady Choctaws entered the half with a 2-0 lead.
In the 62nd minute of play, senior
Kaitlyn Kiss (Lake Mary, Fla.) scored her fourth goal of the season with a helper by senior
Melanie Benner (Seminole, Fla.). This assist was Benner's seventh of the season and 30th of her career.Â
The Lady Bulldogs got on the board in the 68th minute as Danya Horchi had an unassisted goal.
The Lady Choctaws came back with another goal in the 74th minute as sophomore
Madison Leonard (Cantonment, Fla.) put in her second goal of the season off an assist by Benner. The scoring ended off a goal by
Sayit Mejia Bello (Bogota, Colombia) with a helper by junior
Becca Dupuy (West Monroe, La.) to give the Choctaws a GSC victory over Union (Tenn.) 5-1.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Sunday to host Christian Brothers at 1:00 p.m.Â
