Senior Katie Taylor has been named the Mississippi College Merit Health Female Athlete of the Week for the second straight week, it was announced on Monday (Sep. 30).
Taylor (Tupelo, Miss.) earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors last week, and followed that up with an improved performance, scoring five goals with two assists in just 114 minutes played.
In the 7-0 win over West Alabama, Taylor scored four goals, making her the first Lady Choctaw to notch more than three scores in a single game since Kemily Weimer turned the trick in 2003.
Taylor backed up that performance with another goal and two assists in the 8-0 win over UAH, scoring the game-winning goal for MC for the fourth time this season.
On the season, Taylor is tied for the lead in the GSC with eight total goals and leads the league with 1.6 goals per contest. She also leads the league in game-winning goals (4) and is atop the conference in points per game (3.80).
Taylor and the Lady Choctaws will hit the road this weekend to face Lee (Oct. 4) and Shorter (Oct. 6) in GSC road matches.
