Senior Zairia Brown has been named the Mississippi College Renasant Bank Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (April 29).

Brown (Memphis, Tenn.) set the school record in the women's 400m at the University of Southern Mississippi Open on Saturday (April 27). Her time of 55.06 claimed seventh in the event and surpassed the previous record of Evu Janice Young (57.91).

Brown and the Lady Choctaws will be back in action at the Gulf South Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Shorter University in Rome, Ga., beginning on Thursday (May 2).
