Senior Makenzie Nieto has been named the Mississippi College Renasant Bank Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (March 18).
Nieto (New Hudson, Mich.) went 6-for-10 with three doubles and a triple in the road series sweep of Lee University this weekend. She had the game-winning RBI double in the top of the seventh inning of the final game of the series, lifting MC to a 7-6 victory.
On the season, Nieto has lifted her batting average 84 points over the last five games, hitting 8-for-15 (.533) with three doubles, a triple, three RBI and two runs scored in that stretch.
Nieto and the Lady Choctaws have five road games this week, starting on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Miles at 2:00 p.m. They will then head to face Auburn Montgomery in a three-game series beginning Friday with a single game at 6:30 p.m.
